Sutton Cycling Championships 2014

Today two teams took part in the Sutton Cycling Championships held at Sutton Grammar playing fields. Children had to complete in a safety quiz, agility/skills test and then a challenging cross country race. The overall scores were combined together for both teams. With 22 teams taking part in the competition, Avenue did very well and came in 7th and 8th place. Well done to all the children who were involved! DSCF1233

Cross Country League Champions!

Yesterday was the final race of the cross country season at the David Weir Centre. Again the whole team made a huge effort in their races and many personal scores were beaten. All the scores were calculated across the three races and we all waited nervously for the results…

Year 4 girls placed second overall.  A special mention must go to Jodie, who came 3rd individually overall and received a medal.

Year 4 boys placed first overall.  A special mention must go to Louis, who came 3rd individually overall and received a medal.

Year 6 girls placed second overall.

We scored a total of 1588 points overall and as a result won the League for the tenth time in a row! A huge congratulations to the whole team and thank you to all the parents  who came to support.

Boy’s Football V Westbourne

The boys played Westbourne in the League last Friday.

Having previously played them and losing in the Cup at the beginning of the season the team wanted to put on a good display. This certainly happened!

Early on in the game Avenue went 2 – 0 down with a couple of great finishes from the Westbourne attackers. After this we started to play some really good football.

In the second half Avenue brought the score back level with two excellent goals from Will and Max.

With a few minutes to go Westbourne went on the counter attack and scored. Making the final score 3 – 2 to Westbourne.

It was an excellent game and the whole team put in a huge effort!

Finlay in goal, deserves a special mention for making some superb saves and being awarded the Player of the Match.
