Year 6 Girls’ Football

On a very wet Monday after school the girls played against St. Cecilia’s in their first league match. It was 0 – 0 at half time and a solid second half, with Avenue taking their chances, meant that we won 4 – 0. Emilia scored with a great finish, and congratulations to Tiya, who scored a hat-trick and was awarded Player of the Match. Well done girls!

7-aside National Football Tournament

On Wednesday, the boys’ football team played in the Sutton Finals of the Danone Cup. Three other teams progressed to the finals from the different tournaments that were held the previous week.

The results of Avenue’s games –

Avenue 0 – 1 Robin Hood The boys put in a terrific defensive performance and unfortunately conceded late in the final minute.

Avenue 1 – 0 St Elphege’s (Goals:Louis) A great win for the team to give us 3 points.

Avenue 2 – 4 Hackbridge (Goals: Will & Louis) The team got off to a bad start in this game conceding goals early. However, the boys did really well to get back into the game!

Avenue came joint third with Robin Hood. Hackbridge came second and St Elphege’s won on goal difference. Which meant we beat the overall winners!

The standard of football on display was very good and we were all proud of the team and how they performed. Well done to all the boys who took part and thanks to anyone who came to support!
