Tag Rugby Sutton Champions

Yesterday the Year 5 and 6 Tag Rugby took part in the Sutton Cup Tag Rugby Tournament.

Avenue won the whole tournament and now will represent Sutton in the London Youth Games! Another successful win for the Tag Rugby Team and well done to all the children who took part!

Cross Country

On Wednesday the Cross Country Team took part in a race against other schools across the borough at Sutton Grammar Playing Fields.

All the children ran extremely well in tough muddy conditions and the team supported each other.  Alex B and Alex J were awarded gold and silver medals in the Year 4 Boys Race. Well done boys! Also we had a lot children get selected for the Sutton Primary Schools Cross Country Championship. These are fantastic achievements! (Please note, the school has been sent a new copy of the letter with a change of the race date to Saturday 23rd January. Mr Dann will hand out a copy of this to the children who were selected).

The results will be given to school after half term so keep a look out on the Sport Blog to see where Avenue finished overall. Thanks for all the support!

Football Update

Year 6 Boys

The Year 6 Team started off their season with an impressive win in a friendly match V Cheam Park Farm, scoring 9 goals and keeping a clean sheet.

In the Borough 7 aside Tournament the team played 3 very close matches. Winning one and losing two, which unfortunately meant that we didn’t finish in top place and as a result didn’t go into the finals.

Last Friday the team played their first league match V Robin Hood at home. A great attacking style of play meant that Avenue won 7 – 0.

Year 6 Girls

The Year girls played their first match of the season in a friendly V Cheam Park Farm. The whole club of 18 took part playing a half each. Cheam Park Farm won the game 5 – 0, but after two training sessions the girls have already shown that with their hard work and commitment it should be a great season!
