Borough Indoor Athletics Finals

On January 11th, children from Year 5 & 6 took part  in the heats of the Borough Indoor Athletics at Overton Grange. There was three heats at different venues and the top two schools from each heat qualified for the Finals. The best two third place schools also qualified for the finals.

After an impressive performance in a very competitive heat we found out that we qualified for the finals. On 24th January the Finals took place at Wallington High. The team first took part in the field events – soft javelin, speed bounce, chest throw, long jump, triple jump and vertical jump. After that it was the track events, with some excellent races. All the children who took part really tired their best and they supported their team mates.

When the results were announced Avenue came fifth, which is a great achievement. Well done to everyone involved!

Kwik Cricket Festival

Yesterday we took some of our less experienced cricketers to a beginners cricket tournament. The children did some cricket drills and then played against four other schools in a diamond cricket tournament. The children showed great attitude and enthusiasm throughout and are now all very interested in joining the school cricket club! We had a fantastic afternoon!
