Wednesday 1st March is the final cross country league race at Woodmansterne.
Parents and pupils should congregate & wait in the far corner of the car park, near the entrance to the school. Please ensure that pupils are not running around unescorted in the car park.
The organisers will stop people parking once the Walcountians car park is full so that people can get out easier at the end of the event. There is a village hall car park 100m further up the road on the right hand side which can serve as an overflow car park.
The winner of the cross country league will be announced at the end of this event and presented with a trophy. It looks very close at the top at the moment, so everything to run for!
Well done to the Year 6 Green Netball Team who beat Cheam Park Farm 1 – 0 yesterday. Zoe scored with only thirty seconds of the match remaining! The team fought hard and were excellent!
Live on BBC One tonight at 7:55pm, Sutton Utd will play Arsenal in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup.
Can Sutton Utd win? What do you think the score will be?
On Friday 10th February, a group from the Year 6 Boys’ Football Team represented the school at Sutton Utd in a National League 6 aside Tournament. The team were very excited as they had the opportunity to play on the 3G pitch that Arsenal will play on in the Fifth Round of the FA Cup.
There were 10 teams in total, which were all split into two groups.
Group Stage Results
Cheam Common A 0 V 1 Avenue
Cheam Park Farm A 0 V 3 Avenue
Avenue 0 V 0 Beddington Park
Cheam Fields 0 V 3 Avenue
Avenue were unbeaten in the group stage winning three games and drawing one game. The team also didn’t conceded a goal. We progressed to the Quarter Finals top of our group.
Avenue 2 V 0 Surrey Square
Avenue 0 V 0 Muschamp
Pens: Avenue 2 V 0 Muschamp
After a two great games in the knock-out stages the team successfully qualified for the final. An impressive team performance meant that the team achieved this without conceding a goal. This is even more impressive as the Semi Final was a penalty shoot out which consisted of three penalties for each team. Luke made a great save in goal and Muschamp’s other penalty went over the bar. Jonathan and Charlie took their penalties very confidently for Avenue, which meant the boys were through to the final.
Avenue 0 V 1 Cheam Common A
Both teams had already met in the group stage and so we knew the final was going to be very close. Both teams had chances during the game but it looked like it was going to go to penalties. With one minute to go, Cheam Common were awarded a free-kick just outside of the box and they scored with a great direct strike. The final whistle was blown straight after.
The boys were very disappointed to lose in the last minute of the final. However, they should be very proud of what they achieved. The whole team played really well! Well done boys!
On Friday, Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 took part in InterHouse Sports. Year 5 and 6 took part in dodgeball whilst Year 3 and 4 played football.
Despite the cold weather, all the children work very hard and developed their throwing, catching and kicking skills throughout the morning. All the children really enjoyed taking part in the sports and showed excellent teamwork throughout the morning.
The results were: Red 41, , Green 38, Blue 18, Yellow 16
Which meant the overall winners were Red House! Well done!
