The green team played in the 2nd round of the cup yesterday. They unfortunately lost but worked hard throughout and played really well as a team!
Yesterday afternoon two teams represented Avenue at the Year 4 Sutton Schools 9-a-side Football Tournament. The children showed great effort, attitude, and skill throughout the afternoon, representing Avenue fantastically. All of the children played brilliantly and one of our teams made it through to the finals day next week.
Avenue played Whitgift in the Semi-Final of the Surrey Cup this afternoon.
The team started the game strongly and were winning challenges all over the pitch. The boys played some excellent football and everyone was working hard for each other. Avenue took a well deserved 3 -1 lead into half time.
The team continued to work hard and created lots of chances in the second half. Whitgift came back strong though and scored with some fantastic strikes. Whitgift then went ahead 3 – 5. Avenue still pushed forward and scored a well worked team goal to bring it back to 4 – 6. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough, and Whitgift scored on the counter attack. The match finished – Avenue 4 V 6 Whitgit. The team were disappointed not to be going through to the final, but they should be really pleased getting this far in a tough competition!
Sutton United are holding open football trials for U7 – U16 girls and boys. Please click on the document below for more information.

There were three other Borough Winners at the finals. Each team played each other the group stage in the morning. Then after lunch, it was the 3rd/4th Place Place-Off and the Final against the top two teams in the group.

At half time, Avenue were winning 2 – 0. After half time, Avenue scored a third and the team continued to work hard for each other and looked dangerous going forward. This competition has schools from across the country taking part in qualifying tournaments, with tournament winners going on to represent their local Premier League team in the Finals at Stamford Bridge, the home of Chelsea FC! Avenue will now represent Crystal Palace at the National Final to be hosted on Tuesday 23rd May at Stamford Bridge Football Ground. This is an incredible achievement by the boys and they should be extremely proud of themselves. They showed excellent sportsmanship throughout and really deserved to win the trophy. Well done Avenue!
Well done to the Year 6 Netball Team who played Dorchester today.
The Year 6 boys’ football team played against Corpus Christi in the Quarter Finals of the Surrey Cup on Friday.
Avenue took the lead just before half time with a well worked team goal that was scored by James. In the second half, Corpus Christi scored a goal to equalise with a header from a corner. As the second half progressed, the boys had more possession of the ball and started to link up well with some great passing moves. Josh scored the winner with about 10 minutes left of the game and some excellent defending by the whole team meant that Avenue won 2 -1. Congratulations to Oliver in Year 5 for getting player of the match with a solid defensive display at right back. Well done boys!
On Wednesday, the Cross Country Team took part in the third and final league race.
Before the race, Avenue were second place on points after winning the first race overall and coming second in the second race. All the children who took part ran really well and there were a lot children who improved on their previous finishing place. It was also brilliant to see the whole team supporting and cheering each other on.
After all the races had finished, we eagerly waited for the overall results. Barrow Hedges finished in third, Avenue in Second and Stanley Park in first. We will post the total points and table when we get them sent from the organisers.
Well done to all the whole team for a successful season! Also, thank you to all the parents, family and friends who came to support the children. Let’s hope we have another successful cross country season next year! 🙂
