Boys Premier League Primary Stars

On Tuesday, 8 boys from Year 5 and 6 went to Carshalton Boys’ Sports College to take part in the Premier League Stars competition. Arriving early and very keen to begin the team was focused from minute one and this showed in our first game. Up against Barrow Hedges a goal from Xavier put us 1-0 up early on before Oliver scored a free-kick to seal a 2-0 win. Next up was St Elphege’s (who had beaten us in the previous 6 a side tournament) a great team performance meant we ran out 2-0 winners with 2 goals from Xavier. After that, a brilliant performance lead to a 4-0 win against a young Cheam Common side. The final group game saw us pitted against Muschamp and goals from Xavier, Charlie-Ray and a superb individual effort from Jason saw us win 3-0. This meant we won the group without conceding a goal and set up a semi-final against Bandon Hill. A slow start after a long break, saw us concede our first goal of the day but this sparked us into life. After a long period of pressure, Alex scored a diving header after some great wide play. With seconds left on the clock, Dylan mishit a long pass that settled in the net after a mistake by the goal keeper. The final, a rematch against a vastly improved Cheam Common, was a tight affiar as we looked to hit them on the counter attack. After missing an earlier chance, Charlie-Ray held off the defender to put the ball in the bottom right corner. As the game went on Cheam Common began to push forward before a late goal from Xavier was met by wild scenes on the touchline from teachers and parents. The team fully deserved their win and are very excited to still be in another 6-a-side tournament,

Player of the Tournament: Olivier. Great defending, vision and a real leader on the day

Special Mention: Jason after taking the ball in his own half, dribbling passed players and finishing in the bottom right hand corner
